Look how we have grown and changed!
May 22 ~ Villa Visit
May 29 ~ Last day of school and Pierz Park Field Trip
This week we read a story titled: Super Oscar. During this story, the main character loves to daydream. Anything from riding a dinosaur to singing under a disco ball! Oscar gets so caught up in his daydreams, that he forgets to pass out the job lists for the community picnic that is about to start! Ask your child what idea Oscar comes up with to save the picnic!
Phonics: final stable syllables: -le (such as in apple, table, circle)
Comprehension: character and setting
Grammar: adverbs that tell how
Writing: Father's Day cards
Spelling: Review List
We continued our Second Step Curriculum Child Protection Unit. We learned about private body parts which are covered up by our swimsuits. Please refer to Home Link 4 for additional information!
Reading Folders and Calendars
Please have your child return their Reading Folder. I have started inventory and need all books returned, including A.R. books. Next week, I will print off an A.R. report with a history of all the books that your child has read and include it with your child's end of the year report card.
Also, reading calendars can be returned any time next week if your child has met their goal! Thank you for supporting them this year! They have all grown tremendously in their literacy skills!!
End of the Year Letter
Next week I will send home a hard copy of our end of the year letter. On the back side of this letter will be a list of resources that you can use throughout the summer months with your child. I will also be sending this resource list via Fast Direct as sometimes it is easier to access and find! Thanks for an AMAZING year and for sharing your children with me!
Cleaning out Desks and Lockers
Next week we will be cleaning out our desks and lockers and sending materials home. Any slightly used or unused items will be sent home.
Your child's nightly homework is to read at least 5-15 minutes per night. This number will increase as your child becomes a better reader!
Math homework comes home daily. Please assist your child with this as needed. No homework will be sent home on Fridays and when we have a test or another form of assessment.
We have Phy Ed. on Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child has tennis shoes to wear on these days.
**It is highly recommend that students have appropriate shoes for running and playing safely at recess time too!**
Front Row is a program/app that individualizes a variety of math games specific to the needs of each child. As the child continues to practice these skills and increase their abilities, so do the levels of each specific game. Your child's username and class codes are taped to the inside cover of their take home folders. Their username is simply their first and last name and the class code is kimmad. I encourage you to take advantage of this unique program. Simply click on the link below to get started, use the QR code located on your child's class code paper, or go to:
Steps to login to Front Row:
1. Login with first/last name & class code (kimmad)
2. Click on Math
3. Click on a Topic to begin
Here is a fun and simple origami site! We read a story about origami last week and it really sparked an interest. We made a few things and I thought I would share it with all of you. I hope you enjoy it! Remember, you will need to start with a SQUARE sheet of paper!
